For most of us, wearing a mask has become a part of everyday life. Yet the ability to relax — truly relax — wearing a mask is just not quite a reality yet.

Perhaps this is why Cathay Pacific recently announced it will give business and first-class passengers the option to remove their masks when their seat is fully reclined into the flat-bed position. The airline’s first-class cabin has only six seats that are spaced apart in a private 1-1-1 configuration, but are not fully enclosed suites like some of the competitors. Of course, the industrial-strength HVAC filters, heightened cleaning measures, and additional cabin safety are still on every flight.

While the relaxed restrictions might turn off some travelers from fly with Cathy Pacific, others are enticed by the chance to feel a sense of normalcy and comfort on long-haul flights.
