The Louvre Museum, located on the right bank of the Seine, is one of the most famous museums in the world. Cathédral de Notre Dame de Paris, also known as the Notre Dame Cathedral, is the most visited non-ticketed site in Paris. A landmark of French Gothic architecture, the Notre Dame played a central role in Catholic Paris for seven centuries. It is located on an island within the Seine, and is right at the heart and center of Paris.
The Eiffel Tower is possibly the most famous and distinguishable monument in Paris. Located on the Champ de Mars, a large open green space in Paris, the Eiffel Tower has access to some of the best views in Paris. Climbing up the tower for a view of the sunset is a truly memorable experience. Arc de Triomphe is a famous monument in Paris. It’s located at the center of the Place de Charles de Gaulle. It was originally built to celebrate Napoleon’s victory at Austerlitz. Beneath the arc is located the famous Tomb of the Unknown Soldier From World War I. Visitors are able to climb to the top of the Arc for an amazing view of the city.
Ledoyen is one of the oldest and highly esteemed restaurants in Paris. Originally serving as an inn when it first existed in 1779, Ledoyen has had a long history with many famous patrons, such as Napoleon, Degas, and Monet. The restaurant itself is a two-story pavilion surrounded by picturesque gardens. Le Meurice is a very glamorous restaurant located at the Hotel Maurice in the center of Paris. The restaurant is well revered for the chef’s inventive dishes as well as his deep understanding of Escoffier culinary technique. As of 2007 Le Meurice has 3 Michelin stars. La Tour d’Argent is a restaurant in Paris that claims to have been founded in 1582. The name of the restaurant translates to “The Silver Tower,” and has an impressive view of the Notre Dame and the Seine. The restaurants specialty is duck.
Paris is a very easy city to navigate around, both on foot and via the extensive metro system. There are taxicabs in Paris, although heavy traffic is often an issue. It is important while in Paris to safely have your belongings on you at all times, as there are pickpockets, especially in crowded touristy areas.
