The last thing we want to do after an international flight home is wait in a themepark-length line through customs.

There’s a way to expedite this, and it’s cheaper and easier than Global Entry.

Mobile Passport is a cellphone app that allows you to store your passport information, which you can then use to auto-fill customs forms via your cellphone. Once you submit your forms, you simply take your QR code to U.S. Customs and Border Protection express lane, and from there quickly proceed to baggage claim.

While this app is super handy and saves you lots of time, note that this app is not a replacement for your passport–you will still need it to show to the customs agent.

The app is free, but if you want it to store your data for more than four hours, (so you only have to input your info once, and not every time you travel), you can purchase the premium option for $15.

By comparison, an application for Global Entry costs $100 for a five-year membership. Additionally, Global Entry requires an application and interview.

While Mobile Passport doesn’t have the same reach as Global Entry–the app can be used at 30 U.S. airports, and cannot be used at airports overseas–it will still make your life easier when you land, so you can spend less time at the airport and more time where you really want to be: relaxing at home.
